Now that I only have Luhan, Chen, Xiumin left to do, i officially declare this a blurry background series:)
I tried a new technique with this drawing by using Q-tips to blend, and i was pleasantly surprised with the results! you guys should try it, it gives a softer touch than blending sticks^^

3 hours. 2B, 4B pencil. <- i had to draw in candlelight because there was a power outage boo :(

I once used cotton or Q tips to blend and it was indeed a lot better and easier to control :3 i still wish i had your patience in drawing D:

how do you deal with it then? for example, there is this part wherein u just cant get it right D: do you crumple your paper, take a break or continue? XD

for me, when everything seems to be going wrong, i just take a break. watch a few videos, eat a snack, and then come back. you'll be able to see the drawing with fresh eyes and you'll see where exactly you need to fix. and if it still doesn't look good after taking a break, i scrap it:/ it's important to know the line between fixable and not fixable^^;

Well, your Q-tip touch worked marvelously well. Those accents really benefit the ethereal quality you've given his face. What a man. Your work never ceases to amaze me. *Bows*

I like using Q-tips when I use my 6B pencil. It's really good for details.

You made good use of them! ^^
My mom lets me use her special makeup Q-tips for blending; one end is normal, and the other is pointed--perfect for details! I actually use them to apply the charcoal sometimes (not just blend it); I just scribble with the pencil on a scrap sheet of paper and use it as a palette (or, more often, I just dip the Q-tip into parts of the drawing that are already done, depending on how much charcoal I want on it).
I love discovering little art techniques and tricks like that. =D

ooohhhh those q-tips of yours sound great for shading! i gotta find some for myself hehe^^
i want to do more charcoal drawings but those take so much time D; and oh yes i know the technique you're talking about -- i do that too!!c: it's great when artists can share their little tricks like this^^

Yeah, and charcoal is one of those mediums where you sometimes need little techniques and tools to pull it off. >.<
I wish I could be a more prolific artist, but my perfectionism (and my charcoal pencils) tells me otherwise! Oh, well...I'm usually pretty satisfied with how they turn out, so I guess it's worth the wait. =D

it's okay, quality>quantity!! i don't post drawings on a daily basis anymore either (more like every other day^^; i don't like to rush my drawings but i've set a precedent of daily postings so if i skip maybe 2 days in a row without posting ppl start asking me if something happened and i'm just like O.O i'm... just taking a break...D: lol
your drawings always turn out so nicely so it's well worth the time and effort!!:)

I totally agree!
OMZ that's ridiculous! People expect too much... >.< Of course, I usually go weeks at a time without anything but half-finished doodles to show for it, but I still get the nagging sometimes. =P It's like, geez, go look at my old stuff or something! It's not going anywhere. xD
Oh, and merci beaucoup x 1000! This humble lil' fangirl tries. ^.^'

Yeah--you can't rush art, or else it becomes...not art, if you know what I mean. ^.^'

Oh, I can't help it... >.< I get such mixed responses on my art, so I'm never sure how to react other than saying "thank you" like a broken record at the first sign of approval. O.o
